Some very high class Nishikigoi were brought at the Shinkokai Breeders Auction, which was held yesterday in the Japanese prefecture. People would tend to think it would be a gosanke being appreciated with the highest bid. But against all these odds, it was an 78cm Asagi from the Oya Koi farm, that changed ownership for the highest bid of the day…
The Oya Koi Farm is led bij the breeder named Kataoka, under which specially his Sanke are well known. His Asagi however, have hereby proven to be of no less quality. It’s not the awesome net patterning on the Asagi and the well placed hi markings that makes this fish that irresistable. The skin quality, bright and with a great lustre at the scale edges (as is visible on the detail picture) is responsible for the utmost appreciation it diserves. Measuring about almost 80cm, she’s not a little girl anymore, but being able to rice above the gosanke from all those top class breeders, has been a dream to Kataoka… until now. Probably she will make her attendance on the next All Japan Koi Show in 2012.
