It was a exciting battle on the Niigata Nogyosai. It was Dominika Walus that brought us this beautiful shot of the tricolored winner that is originating from the Isa Koi Farm. With 85 cm, a surprising pattern that is carried on a strong and balanced body and with a crystal clear skin that is one of the strong characteristics of this famous Showa breeder, she makes Mitsunori Isa san one of the proudest breeders of Japan this weekend. Is it a Scottish battlefield from the Braveheart era? Is it a French fair with blue barrels full of wine? No; it is the Euregio Koi Show in Oldenzaal (central east of Holland) that really had a burst this year! It was already known that a new location had been found, and in Rijswijk (All European Shinkokai Koi Show) we heard that dealers from the southern part of the Netherlands and Flemish dealers planned to come as well and take part in the show contest of the central area of the Netherlands. Who came out on top when the prizes were awarded? Read More
She’s back… and better than ever before! At first I was put on the wrong track and by observing this “one meter plus specimen”. My first thoughts were that the Scandinavian hobbyist Thorsten Nagelsky had won his next Jumbo Champion title with his Mukashi ogon. This was not the case and yet I have met this mighty Mukashi Ogon before?!
Vertigo – yes I can call her by first name now – swims all knowing, however also in full innocence around in the blue champions vat. The looks of this Kohaku are still sublimely. It is pleasent to meet her again after a year and I am happy to see that she’s doing so great, even while residing in a hobbyists pond. The charm is mainly based on the formidable body that looks from head to tail strong, but also streamlined and subtle. Especially the proportion between the size and form are completely correct. Take a look at the video…

In this compilation video we once more have the Major Awards of the Interkoi Show of 2013 for you. Press play and start dreaming…
‘…And of course the editing, the control of the sound and suchlike are certainly no easy tasks’
When a new Koi dealer enriches the Koi scene of course that is good news. And more so if the dealer has great ambitions and also shows these. 2012 was the year that Koifarm ND saw the light of life and together with Nico Dewulf KoiQuestion looks back on his first season as Koi dealer. And surely there’s enough to look back on.
The last day of the year. Time to make up the balance. What were the most popular articles on KoiQuestion, how often were our videos watched and how many people did we reach? What was the most beautiful Koi of 2012, the most awesome achievement and what was your favorite? An annual review… Read More
With half December on the calendar and the first Christmas cards already on the door mat again my alarm (read: iPhone) peeps with my next appointment showing on the screen. This time no Koi dealer, show or happening. I’m reminded that it is time for reflection. To look back for a moment and think of what this year has meant to KoiQuestion and especially, who meant that…
Jeroen van Keulen
A resounding performance! Since the news reached me this morning, I haven’t stopped bouncing. The Dutch Koi dealers Makoi and Koicentrum van Keulen won Grand Champion on two different Koi Shows in Japan on the same day. They take home the gold from the Nagaoka Koi Show and the Ojiya Koi Show.
