The 3rd edition of the All European Shinkokai is over now. As we all know with Koi shows, time really flies fast throughout the event. The seven judges, including five Japanese Koi breeders, decided these eleven Koi to be the winners of the Major Awards. Just as with the 2nd All European Shinkokai, which was held in Appelten last year, the Sakai Fish Farm Sanke named Heidi II (and until now had won 3 GC titles) became Supreme Champion after Vertigo again. The cat and mouse game between these two heavy weights, both supplied by Danny’s Koi Café and in the case of Heidi II also prepared for the show, is still continuing! Read More →
Last weekend in San José, Califoria the sixth annual ZNA NorCal Koishow was held. As stated on the NorCal-website, the ZNA NorCal Koi Show is mainly about education, with an opportunity to learn and improve our koi knowledge. No wonder KoiQuestion wants to give this show the attention it deserves… Sharing Knowledge.
When it comes to Koi, a picture is – even though its brilliant – actually not sufficient. It is about the movements of the tail through the water which gives it such a peaceful impression. In this compilation video we once more have the Major Awards of the Interkoi Show of 2013 for you. Press play and start dreaming…
‘…And of course the editing, the control of the sound and suchlike are certainly no easy tasks’
Next to the Grand and Supreme Champion there are of course a lot of other prizes that are given away on a Koi show. This is also the case on the Interkoi Show, where in total ten Major Awards are provided. It was clear that Sakai Fish Farm in terms of big Sanke was strongly present this year. Enjoy the ten best Koi of the Interkoi 2013. Read More →

The 7th KOI’S Festival is already halfway, but now I finally could find some time for a decent update! Today it was the judgement day and I was part of the assisting team, being able to see and follow the decisions of the judges very detailed. Also I will introduce you to the Grand Champion, a Dainichi bred Showa owned by Hendrawan Sudarpo. Read More →
With the growing influence of Asian Koi hobbyists on the main Koi shows in Japan, it probably did not surprise the worldwide Koi scene that last show season was dominated by hobbyists from Indonesia. Felix Denanta won the ZNA show, Yohanes Jusuf won the Rinyukai show and only two months ago won Hartono Soekwanto the All Japan Koi Show (all with Kohaku from SFF). How surprising was it that Elna Koi won the All Japan Young Koi Show! And also French Koi dealer l’Oasis, part of the Couleurs de Niigata group, won a big award! Read More →
As you might know already, the 2013 Wakagoi / All Japan Young Koi Show will be held at 16 & 17 March in Aichi-prefecture, Japan. It will be the 30th edition, so it will most probably be a very special one. I have visited Narita Koi Farms and he showed me some of the Koi which he will enter to the show. The Sakura Awards represent together with the Botan and Tsubaki Awards the Major Awards for the non Go-Sanke varieties. The Sakura awards represent Goshiki, Kawarigoi, Ginrin A, Ginrin B and Kujaku. Because of the strong entries with Goshiki, it is difficult for other varieties to win, but this time it is a nice balance with other varieties as well. What a beautiful Koi again on the 2013 All Japan Show! Enjoy!
