Dainichi does it again!

She was one of my favorite Koi on the previous edition of the All Japan Combined Nishikigoi Show, and this year again! She did it! Again a Dainichi Showa that wins the Grand Champion title with a length below 85 centimeter! She was able to remain her beautiful skin, but grew five centimeter in the last year under the supervision of Narita Koi Farms!

The head of a giant!

Now that the winners are announced, I wanna show you a little bit more about the Supreme Champion. The actual name given on the show is Jumbo Champion, but I think this is more suitable to the real Jumbo Koi (a Doitsu Karashigoi of 112 centimeter). Another interesting thing: the ballot for Grand Champion took only one round, with 53 votes for the Dainichi Showa and 30 for this Sakai Kohaku, resulting in a Supreme Champion award for this giant. One of my favorite Kokugyo's of 2012

One of my favorite Kokugyo's of 2012

Unfortunately the All Japan Show is at it’s end now. In my opinion again a very impressive show. Although the amount of big Go-Sanke (85+) was less than last year, it does not say anything about the overal top quality of the entered show. A large amount of fish that did not win a Major Award (the ones which will published on this website) are really good Koi which you might see in the future, winning one. In this blog an overview of the Kokugyo (Best in size Go-Sanke) awards.  Read More
