When I visited Narita Koi Farms in February 2013, Ryuki wanted to show me one of his great expectations for 2015. He expects this Koi, a Sakai Fish Farm Sanke, to become Grand Champion at the 2015 All Japan Combined Nishikigoi Show. At the time of my visit, this Sanke was yonsai (in her fourth year of life) and already 79 cm. At the time of purchase, she was Sansai and 69 cm. This means that the Sanke already grew for 10 cm in the past year! Continue reading and find out why he thinks this Sanke has the potential to become the new All Japan Grand Champion! Read More
What an impressive head, isn’t it? This is the head of a real old school type of Sanke, although the fish itself isn’t that old yet. It seems like the fish looks a bit mean, but I don’t think she actually means to give this kind of impression. This Sanke has a nice story behind it. It took a long time, but it’s finally here in Western Europe: spring time! And on the same day the first European Show, the Interkoi show, was held. Coincidence? “A nice sumi stripe is present on the fins. Because I don’t know the age of the Sanke in question I would say nisai. A beautiful long stretched body with a broad tale starting point. No sumi on the forehead and as shown in the first picture, a beautifully long stretched head. Personally I find it very beautiful when minimally one sumi patch also appears in the white field. It gives them something innocent. Personally I think it’s a beautiful fish. Mainly due to the colour scheme/pattern.” Continue reading about my opinion of this Sanke! Read More
